Geological nature trail at Lake Zwenkau

In the newly created city park on the southern shore of Lake Zwenkau, locals and visitors have the opportunity to take a journey through time: in addition to petrified wood and erratic blocks discovered at the site where the largest lake in southern Leipzig's Neuseenland is currently being created, four educational panels provide information about the geological history of the former mining region. Locals and visitors can learn interesting facts about archaeology, tertiary forests, marine fossils and the Ice Age using graphics and texts. It is well worth a visit, which is often astonishing.
