The five-storey building complex was built in 1912 and 1913 according to designs by the architect Alfred Stentzler. In its early years, the impressive trade fair palace exhibited goods from the pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetic industries.
Something very special for Leipzig is the entrance area from the 1920s in the Art Deco style. Later, a cabaret stage was set up here, which has been the venue of the cabaret "academixer" since 1980.
