Dresdner Hof (Neumarkt)

Short facts

  • Leipzig
  • Pedestrian zone, Destinations

Dresdner Hof was built as the second city palace of the Mustermesse (samples fair). At that time, it was the third largest fair building in the city centre.

The five-storey building complex was built in 1912 and 1913 according to designs by architect Alfred Stentzler. In the early years, the impressive Messepalast trade fair hall showcased goods from the pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetics industries.

For Leipzig, the Art Deco foyer from the 1920s is something very special. Later, a cabaret stage was set up here, and it has been the venue of the Kabarett academixer since 1980.
