The private collection of the collector Steffen Hildebrand is one of the youngest private collections open to the public. It is exhibited in the G2 Kunsthalle.
The G2 Kunsthalle has more than 1,000 m² of exhibition space in bright, spacious rooms. From the glass lounge on the third floor of the former computer center, you have an excellent view of St. Thomas Church opposite and the city center. Selected works from Steffen Hildebrand's private collection have been on display since March 2015. The focus of the collection is on contemporary Leipzig painting by young but also renowned artists. These include top-class works by Rosa Loy, Neo Rauch, David Schnell and Matthias Weischer. The collection is complemented by other media as well as current national and international positions.

In July 2022, the G2 Kunsthalle expanded to include the G2 Schaulager. It is characterized by the independently extendable depot walls and is located in the same building on the second floor. It allows visitors to explore a large part of the collection as part of public guided tours. The Kunsthalle is regularly open on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Schaulager can be visited on guided tours on the same days.
