Situated in the middle of a beautiful floodplain landscape, Groitzsch can look back on almost 1,000 years of history. Groitzsch has developed into a modern small town with a number of special features. With the Wiprechtsburg castle, Groitzsch has a place rich in history and culture, which attracts many thousands of visitors with its open-air stage integrated into the castle ruins, especially in the summer months with various events.


The 3D cinema with daily film screenings, the "AZUR" fitness and wellness center with indoor pool and the "Stadtmühle" clubhouse invite you to visit. In the district of Großstolpen, a bathing lake with a snack bar, barbecue and volleyball court as well as a large playground has been established, inviting sun-seekers to relax. From here, it is also not far to the Neuer Geyersberg viewpoint.
