Memorial Museum in the "Round Corner"
The Museum in the "Round Corner" is a partner of the Leipzig Card / Leipzig Regio Card.
The benefits are described under "Good to know / Price information".
The memorial was once the headquarters of the State Security (Stasi). Visitors to the museum can experience the working atmosphere in the district administration at the time.
In the original rooms of the former district administration for state security in Leipzig, the memorial provides information about the Stasi as the guarantor of the SED dictatorship and how it was overcome by the Peaceful Revolution. The exhibition "Stasi - Power and Banality" shows numerous, sometimes unique exhibits on the history, structure and working methods of the GDR secret service, including a prison cell. The exhibition "Leipzig on the Way to the Peaceful Revolution" reports on the events in the fall of '89 that brought down the communist dictatorship in the GDR. Since 2012, the memorial has been part of the European Cultural Heritage "Iron Curtain".
The App "Leipzig '89" also offers further exciting insights and guides you to 20 stele locations in Leipzig city center. Events that contributed to the fall of the SED dictatorship took place at these locations. Original photos, documents and contemporary film footage complement the tour and bring the Peaceful Revolution to life.
