Schmeisser organ in the Marienkirche Roßwein

The first and well-known church building (St. Bartholomew's Church) was destroyed in a town fire in 1420.

Reconstruction began in 1430, but was only completed in 1611. The new church was named "Zu unserer lieben Frauen" from the outset, but today's town church is also known as "Marienkirche".

The organ was built in 1877 by the Borna master organ builder Richard Kreutzbach. In 1939, the Rochlitz master organ builder Schmeisser converted it into a three-manual instrument with 43 stops and a contemporary keyboard. It can still be found in this form today.
