Schmeisser organ in the church of St. Kunigunde Rochlitz

There has been evidence of organs in the churches of Rochlitz since the 16th century. Over the centuries, an organ landscape has developed that offers a varied picture of historical instruments through to the organ building of today. The main construction period of the church ended in 1476. The first verifiable organ was built in 1515. In 1864, the organ by Wilhelm Eduard Schmeisser was taken away by the town. The current organ by Alfred Schmeisser (1902-1945) dates from 1920 and was completely overhauled by organ builder Gerd-Christian Bochmann (Kohren-Sahlis) in 2013.
