Don't worry! You can sleep in! But please eat little or nothing! Because on Friday around 11 a.m. your trip starts with a culinary city tour through Leipzig. There are various tours through districts such as Plagwitz, Schleußig or the Waldstraßenviertel, each showing different sides of the city - from industrial history to the Wilhelminian quarter.

The tours usually last about three hours and take place in small groups. Together with a guide, you will explore the district off the beaten tourist track, hear exciting stories and make several stops at selected cafés, manufactories and small stores. There you can sample regional and international specialties a culinary sightseeing tour that will make your mind and stomach smile.

After you've probably eaten enough for the rest of the year in the last few hours, you roll on to Zoo Leipzig. If your legs can no longer carry you, there is also an uncomplicated journey by streetcar. It's up to you whether you take a boat trip on the jungle river Gamanil in Gondwanaland or support the anthropologists in Pongoland with your ingenuity when researching the great apes. Or you can pay a visit to the meerkats - perhaps they will move a little closer together for one of the coveted spots on their rock. If, contrary to all expectations, you have already Hunger Bamboo Bar or the Pond Café Fine cuisine at the Hacienda Las Casas.

To end the evening on a pleasant note, you can either head to the Gewandhaus on Augustusplatz or to one of the many cabarets in the city. If you opt for the former, you will discover the 712 m² ceiling painting "Gesang vom Leben" by Sighard Gille through the front of the glass building. Inside, concert highlights await you with the world-famous Gewandhausorchester. Incidentally, it is not only the concert orchestra of the Gewandhaus, but also the orchestra of the Leipzig Opera and the ensemble that performs the Bach cantatas together with the Thomanerchor every week in St. Thomas Church.

However, if you prefer the cabaret as your evening program, you will be delighted by a diverse program with national and international guest performances. What's more, most of the venues are located in the heart of the old town, which is easy to get to thanks to its many parking garages and the Markt stop.

Other tips for the evening include various dinner shows. It definitely won't be boring!

Freshly rested and fit as ever, head to the Karli, where the Café Puschkin breakfast awaits you. In the warmer months, you can sit outside amidst the morning hustle and bustle on the Karli, while at lower temperatures you can snuggle up on the cozy upholstered benches in a subtle dark green. Delicious pancakes, omelettes and many other delicious breakfast treats await you here, including vegan options.

An alternative is the HUWA or the Café Cantona.

Hopefully you've had a good breakfast, because your guided tour across Leipzig starts at 10 am. With what some say is probably Leipzig's most popular vehicle: the bicycle! It goes with lipzi tours through the traditional old town, past famous monuments such as the Bach Monument and through exciting districts such as the industrial quarter in Schleußig with the former colored yarn factories. You (and your group) register in advance for the bike tour and then cruise through the city center and Leipzig's most beautiful districts for three hours. By the way: A guided tour is of course not a must. You can also explore Leipzig on your own - with a nextbike. The bike-sharing provider has its rental bikes all over the city, which you can rent very easily, quickly and for a small fee via the nextbike app.

And for those who don't want to be quite so sporty, but prefer to take things a little easier, we can recommend one of the many city tours and sightseeing tours as an alternative.

You will then experience the historical flair of the original bank and trading house in Barthels Hof from the 18th century. Where merchants and money changers used to do business between stacked sacks, you can now enjoy a lunch. The family-run restaurant offers a classic culinary feast from Saxon sauerbraten in red wine sauce to Barthel's potato pizza for a reasonable price.

Or you can cheat your way among the suits and enjoy the view at business lunch Panoramatower - but you should remember to make a reservation here. Or perhaps you'd prefer the traditional cuisine at the Ratskeller, which serves everything from roast salmon fillet to pork knuckle and vegetable schnitzel.

It's best to see for yourself what you like and immerse yourself in the gastronomic diversity of Leipzig.

What would a trip to Leipzig be without a little artistic inspiration? You can get it at the Museum of Fine Arts. It houses 80,000 objects under its roof - a mixture of different art collectors from different eras. And the best thing? Since January 1, 2024, you can visit the permanent exhibitions free of charge and stroll through the hallowed halls with works by famous artists such as Lucas Cranach the Younger or Neo Rauch, the pioneer of the "New Leipzig School".

If art isn't your cup of tea after all, then take a look around the Schumann House&nbsp! The museum in the eastern center of Leipzig is located in the former home of the music couple Clara and Robert Schumann. It is no coincidence that the museum has the motto "Welcome to the Schumanns' home". Discover the modern life of the Schumanns with all your senses - from visualized features to sounds for composing to entire pieces of music. The new permanent exhibition is designed as a couple's museum and is therefore unique in the music museum landscape. Further highlights include the splendid Schumann Hall, a sound room with a sound installation and an audioguide that guides you through the exhibition with artistic features. And if you're lucky, there will even be a concert on the day of your visit (usually towards the evening). A look at the calendar of events will help you decide whether to extend your stay at the museum until the evening or simply come back later.

Perhaps it's time to look back at all the places you've seen and experienced in Leipzig over the last few hours...
