Our favorite drink provides absolute coffee enjoyment in Leipzig in many tasty variations...

There are: Espresso, Doppio, Americano, Latte Macchiato...

The history of coffee began thousands of years ago on the high plateaus of Ethiopia. Today, the drink is known all over the world and is considered an absolute elixir of life in many households. The average German drinks 4 cups a day. But not all coffee is the same. And anyone who drinks a lot of coffee knows that there are major differences in both preparation and taste. The little black bean has long since conquered the world - and our favorite Leipzig - but where does the hot drink taste best?

So if you're also passionate about coffee, you shouldn't miss out on this article. Because we'll tell you where you can enjoy the best coffee in Leipzig.</p

Coffee enjoyment in the center of Leipzig

We start our excursion through the cafés in Leipzig in the heart of Leipzig: in the city center. And off we go to the traditional Café Kandler. In the center of Leipzig, the coffee house is located both at the Thomas- and at the Nikolaikirche. Take a seat and treat yourself to a cup of freshly brewed coffee. A little treat is a must for real coffee enjoyment in Leipzig. The traditional establishment serves Original Leipziger Lerchen and a specialty of the house: the chocolatey Bachtaler.

The Kaffeehaus Riquet. The special architecture alone makes the café worth a visit. The company Riquet & Co. commissioned the building in 1908. The long trading tradition of the company to East Asia and the Orient is therefore reflected in the design. The double-storey curved roof turret is reminiscent of classical Chinese architecture. The parapets, pillars, main cornice and round gable are decorated with beautiful colorful mosaics in the Art Nouveau style. Two copper elephant heads flanking the entrance door to the café are the trademark of the Riquet company. In this great ambience, you can enjoy the house coffee specialties - an exotic elephant coffee or a delicious coffee Riquet - together with a piece of homemade cake

Another recommendation is the Café Corso, a family business that has been synonymous with coffee enjoyment in Leipzig for over 100 years and lovingly handcrafts first-class cakes, pastries and cakes. It is also one of the few remaining patisseries that produces tree cakes exclusively by hand&nbsp.

In addition to the traditional cafés in Leipzig's city center, the hip Bohemian Kids Café. Not far from the university Bara and Michael have turned their passion into a profession and provide many students with the needed dose of caffeine every day. In the café you can expect inviting music and a hustle and bustle. In addition, you can not only relax from the stress of university, but also enjoy your first pink latte&nbsp. You can also equip your own kitchen here. Whether cups, coffee equipment or simply a delicious bar of chocolate - the Bohemian Kids Café got it all!

Coffee delicacies in the north of the city

The north of Leipzig also has a lot in store for coffee fans. In the self-proclaimed Gohliser Kiezcafé, the Schwung & Schwebe, you can expect not only really delicious coffee from their own coffee roastery, but also fresh, tasty, home-made food to suit your taste. The café is therefore a place to enjoy, relax and also ideal for a coffee klatch. It is particularly important to owners Jens and Max to work with regional partners who love what they do - just like they do.

Our next recommendation also has a Far Eastern touch: the Jeepney Café in Gohlis. Here you can enjoy freshly brewed filter coffee made from the rare Philippine Liberica or Excelsa coffee beans. The owner Janellsa also offers homemade pancakes, delicious granola or Philippine rice bowls. If you still have a sweet tooth, you must try one of the sugary cupcakes.

Coffee spots in the east of Leipzig

Things are literally jagged in East Leipzig. More precisely, at Espresso Zack Zack right next to Lene-Voigt-Park in the Reudnitz district. The extremely popular coffee bar offers high-quality coffee specialties, snacks and sweets as well as accessories for the espresso machine and fresh, tasty roasted coffee. The owner of Zack Zack, Ralf Hauenschild, has been working in the catering and coffee business for over 15 years. His love for Italian espresso can be felt by every guest who enters his coffee bar, which has been open since 2015, to indulge in all their coffee cravings. If you don't have time to linger, you can take caffeinated pick-me-ups and delicious pastries with you on your way to work, university or the park from 8 a.m. during the week.

You can expect a living room atmosphere in the cozy Café Bubu am Täubchenweg. You should feel just as at home in this extraordinary coffee bar as you would in grandma's living room, as the owners have conjured up their second home from the café. Enjoy sweet and savory treats and delicious coffee - in good weather also in the pretty backyard - and look forward to the delicious breakfast offer, which is simply unbeatable in quality and taste.

Specialty coffee, home-baked cakes and hearty snacks are available in the café TRAGO. Enjoy your freshly ground coffee either outside on the outdoor seating at Stannebeinplatz or inside at the large table and on the many window seats;

Cafés in the south of Leipzig

Always following our noses, our search for the best coffee spots in the city takes us to the South of Leipzig
Here you should definitely make a stop at Café Grundmann, because it is the last real Viennese café in Leipzig and therefore a must for coffee fans. Here you can enjoy your coffee in an art deco ambience&nbsp. The café has been run by master confectioners without interruption since 1919. In addition to coffee and cakes, there is also acreative breakfast menu and something for the big and small lunch appetite. All dishes can be enjoyed in the sunshine on the outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant. And end your lunch break with a coffee, of course.

Espresso, Ristretto, Doppio, Machiato, Flat White, Cappuccino, Americano, Pour Over, Aeropress and many more. It might take you a while to taste your way through the coffee menu at the Uptown Coffee Bar in Riemannstraße. Only coffee made from freshly roasted beans is served over the counter. It is important to the owner that his guests enjoy their coffee break and take their time. To this end, he regularly invites different musicians to provide the right atmosphere.

The Café Maître  brings a touch of French coffee enjoyment to Leipzig's Südvorstadt district. With a cup of coffee, you can make yourself comfortable on the wicker chairs outside, read the newspaper, chat with friends or watch the hustle and bustle of the Karli. You can simply linger for hours in this charming café. Not only will you experience French flair but you can also try all the delicacies that our neighboring country has to offer. Because in the in-house pâtisserie fresh homemade chocolates, baguettes, croissants, brioches, macarons and, of course, quiches are produced daily.

Coffee and cake in the west of Leipzig

The coffee exploration tour takes us further into the West of Leipzig. On the way out of the city, coffee lovers can't miss the Dankbar. Because it is a true all-rounder and not a classic café. Here you can not only enjoy delicious breakfasts, but also a weekly changing lunch menu as well as selected wines and cocktails. We particularly recommend the homemade granola Also recommended: table reservations! This is the only way you can really be sure of getting a seat. It is also worth noting that the café has been working with regional partners since the very beginning, which means fresh ingredients are always available.

If you don't just like to drink coffee, but literally celebrate it, then the Leipziger Brühbar is the place for you. Because here you can expect homemade roasts according to the Scandinavian roasting profile. This creates special taste experiences and gives the beans from the respective coffee plantations their own "sensory fingerprint". In the brew bar, people not only enjoy drinking perfect coffee, but also talking shop about it. Not all coffee is the same

If you love plants as well as coffee, you should definitely visit the urban jungle in the Roots Pflanzencafé >. Here you can expect delicious coffee, homemade cakes and, as the name suggests, plants plus pots, decoration and care tips. So you can take a bit of that jungle feeling home with you.
