Bergschiffmühle Bad Düben

Mill
The mill rattled along the rushing trough until 1956, before it was moved to the castle garden in the 1960s.
The Bergschiffmühle is located at the foot of Düben Castle, in the former moat. In operation since the 17th century, it has often been damaged by fires and floods and has been repaired and renewed time and again; it is the last ship mill in Germany.
Since 2003, after extensive reconstruction, it has been in its original condition from 1905. Now the ravages of time continue to gnaw at such a historic building and so it is waiting, among other things, for the repair of its broken shaft wheel. Until it is reconstructed, it can only be viewed from the outside to a limited extent.
