The river becomes wider, more powerful, at times expansive and leisurely from the confluence of the Freiberger and Zwickauer Mulde. The bike path runs sometimes directly alongside, sometimes away from the river. The route is characterized by large and small forest landscapes, rural idyll, but also the worth-seeing old town of Grimma and some culturally and historically significant buildings such as castles, churches, and a monastery. Before Wurzen, the Mulde must be crossed by ferry or alternatively by bridge!

Directions
The confluence of the Freiberger and Zwickauer Mulde at Sermuth is a fantastic starting point to begin the route along the United Mulde. On a little-trafficked road, it initially goes north to Kössern. Here we can take a short break at Rittergut or follow the main road towards Großbothen. After the first Mulde crossing, we follow the road to Kleinbothen; in the town, we turn left and shortly afterwards right again. We pass the outdoor pool on the left and immediately turn right onto the gravel path. Now we follow the forest path very close to the Mulde, past the Geoportal Schaddelmühle and the ferry landing at Höfgen, to Nimbschen Monastery. We continue on the paved path until we cross the federal road, then continue to the entrance of Grimma. We change sides of the street and descend the (steep!) hill immediately on the right side, always straight on, past the blue Grimma suspension bridge, directly into the historic town center. We then keep right and cross the expansive, historically restored Pöppelmann bridge in the city center. Just behind the bridge, we keep left again by the Mulde and follow the paved path on the former railway track. Over the next 16 nearly straight kilometers, we cross, among other things, the Golzern paper factory, pass the mighty concrete pillars of the A14 motorway, and follow the path over Neichen and Nerchau through a fantastic Mulde floodplain landscape. In Dehnitz, we keep right at the town entrance and then immediately left. Either we now roll directly towards the town of Wurzen or visit the partridge tower on the right, from which we can gaze far into the wonderful Mulde landscape.

With the S-Bahn to Borsdorf. Further with the RB110 to Grimma main station. Then with bus 619 to Sermuth.
