Kreutzbach organ in the Hohnstädt church

The Hohnstädt church is a Romanesque choir tower church from the 13th century. The late Gothic chapel with ribbed vaulting from 1480 serves as a sacristy. It has a marble relief altar, a pulpit (Rochlitz porphyry) and a font from 1661. The tower was raised by 17 m in 1896. The choir with apse is bordered by two triumphal arches on transom cornices towards the nave. 
In 1999, the Ev.Lutheran parishes of Hohnstädt and Beiersdorf united to form the parish of Hohenstädt-Beiersdorf and formed a sister church relationship with the parishes of Grimma, Nerchau and Döben-Höfgen.

The chancel of the church dates back to the 12th century, the nave is medieval. An extension was added in 1857/58. In this context, Urban Kreutzbach from Borna built a two-manual organ in 1858, which was thoroughly restored by the Wünnig company from Großolbersdorf in 1993. Belonging to the parish of Grimma, the organ regularly plays demanding programs.
