Phew, that was really exhausting so far. How about a little (or big) refreshment? Well you can eat lunch in many places in Leipzig, but there is one particular place that you definitely have to visit during your stay in Leipzig: Auerbachs Keller. Known from Goethe's Faust, Leipzig's second oldest restaurant awaits you with a great and traditional ambience and also has some damn tasty food to offer. Above ground is the Mephisto Bar and one floor below you will find the four Historische Weinstuben (Fasskeller, Lutherzimmer, Goethezimmer and Alt-Leipzig can be visited three times a day) as well as the Grossen Keller, where you can enjoy classic Saxon cuisine.

Well fortified, we now continue towards what is probably the most impressive architectural structure Leipzig has to offer: The Völkerschlachtdenkmal. If you are still in the center of Leipzig, you will walk a short distance to Leipzig Market Square, under which there is an S-Bahn station. Here you should take the S1 or S3 in the direction of Leipzig-Stötteritz. After just 8 minutes you will arrive at the Völkerschlachtdenkmal stop and after another 10 minutes on foot you will reach our Völki. Alternatively, you can also reach the Völki with a bike from nextbike . You can easily rent and return your bikes via the TIER app.

Now you have a free choice: in good weather, you can relax on the grounds. Either on the adjacent paths and green areas, at the edge of the large water basin or on the monument itself - which is also accessible via external steps. Alternatively, you can also view the Völki from the inside. For 12 euros (reduced rate 10 euros, children up to 6 years free), you get access to the museum and to the viewing platform, which can be used for unique photos after climbing 364 steps. Because here you can enjoy an incredible panoramic view over Leipzig on offer. Of course, there are many other ways to spend an afternoon in Leipzig. But we can assure you: our Völki is ALWAYS worth a visit.

Leipzig naturally has many other cultural institutions to offer. Perhaps you've always wanted to follow in the footsteps of the world-famous composer and conductor Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy or discover your talent as a conductor? Then you should visit the Mendelssohn House in the south of the city center. In the museum, you can stroll through the artist's original authentic apartment and conduct an orchestra at your leisure in the Effektorium.

Once you're in the south of Leipzig, a visit to the Panometer is highly recommended. The world's largest 360° panorama by artist Yadegar Asisi awaits you here in a former gasometer. The current exhibition "Antarctica" has been on display since the beginning of January 2026 and invites you on a picturesque journey into the world of mighty glaciers and glittering icebergs, penguins, whales and seals&nbsp. The artistic depiction makes the untouched beauty as well as the vulnerability of this extraordinary habitat intensely tangible.

After this relaxing excursion, we head back the same way towards the city center. If you are visiting Leipzig, you should definitely explore the city's waterways. There are boat tours that you can take in a group or on your own. So the next port of call is the Stadthafen Leipzig! It's about a 15-minute walk from the market. Rent a canoe and just paddle away. You can not only relax on Leipzig's waterways, but also get to know parts of the city's industrial culture. If you're lucky, you'll paddle right into the sunset. A breathtaking backdrop and in warmer temperatures, the water trip is twice as much fun!

If you've been on your feet all day, then of course you also need a snack in the evening to get you through the rest of the day or night. Particularly tasty burgers and cocktails await you at Burgerheart in Gottschedstraße. The restaurant is a good 10-minute walk from the city harbor, but the Burgerheart can also be reached quickly by public transport (streetcar lines 1, 9 and 14). Whether alone, as a couple or in a group: here you can end your day in a great atmosphere and then plunge into Leipzig's nightlife!
