Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2026: Program
The Wave-Gotik-Treffen is famous for its broad and unusual program. Every year, around 180 bands perform in parallel in different locations throughout the city.
In addition to the actual festival site in the south of the city (Agra event site, an old trade fair site), there are live concerts on various large stages in the city, in clubs and even in churches or the opera. Musically, the spectrum ranges from dark wave, gothic, post punk, dark indie to classical, medieval, metal and electro/EBM/industrial.

Bands
In addition to big names in the scene, WGT is a particularly good place to discover lesser-known underground bands. Classical music is also part of WGT, for example in the Oper Leipzig, at organ or chamber music concerts.

Tickets
The WGT tickets cost 190 euros per person for the entire festival and are valid for all (official) WGT events and Leipzig's public transport system. If you would like to use the campsite, you will need an additional "Obsorge" ticket for 50 euros. You can park on the Agra Festival grounds with a parking vignette for 20 euros.

There is a shipping and handling charge of 8 euros per order. You can no longer order tickets online shortly before the event, but you can buy them on site at the box office, where you can also get the festival wristbands (see below). There is still a sufficiently large contingent available on site.
For all WGT events you need the official WGT admission wristband, which you should get first thing after your arrival in Leipzig. The wristbands are available at the entrance to the Agra event site and at the ticket container in the small park opposite the main train station.
WGT Highlights
In addition to concerts, the WGT also offers readings, two medieval markets, exhibitions, classical concerts, opera and theater. During the day, you can store for gothic clothing and accessories such as custom-made vampire fangs, heavy boots or elaborate corsets in a large exhibition hall full of booths on the Agra grounds. And the party starts at night: international DJs from the scene play in various clubs in the city.

Victorian Picnic
The Victorian Picnic on Friday afternoons in the Clara-Zetkin-Park has already achieved cult status: hundreds of people in fantastic costumes, in Victorian, steampunk or dark romantic looks meet here for a stylish afternoon picnic with a difference. Click here for the Facebook event.

Medieval market "Heidnisches Dorf"
The two medieval markets are a highlight of the WGT every year. In addition to the medieval spectacle on the roof of the Moritzbastei, you should definitely not miss the "Heidnisches Dorf" in the Torhaus Dölitz (one streetcar stop before the Agra festival site)!
You don't need a festival ticket for the medieval markets, they are also open to non-WGT visitors for an admission fee. In the Pagan Village, numerous stalls with crafts, accessories, food and drink await you under shady trees; there are also performances such as fire shows, readings and archery. Medieval and folk bands play on the live stage in the Heidnisches Dorf.

Opera and theater in Leipzig offer free tickets for individual performances for WGT visitors. As you can't make reservations, you should arrive early!

Good to know - tips on the program
The official program for WGT with the exact times and locations is always announced on short notice (approx. 1-2 weeks beforehand). It is therefore worth taking a look at the official WGT page, which is updated regularly.

Good to know: Since everything takes place in parallel and places are limited at most venues, you should arrive well in advance. Plan enough time to get from A to B, as the venues are spread all over the city (see also below: Getting from A to B in Leipzig). Your WGT wristband serves as a public transport ticket from Friday to Monday inclusive.

Spooky tours through Leipzig
If you want to discover Leipzig's spooky side in time for WGT, you can go on a creepy tour and hunt for everything that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand on end.
You can either opt for the Cemetery Tour "Corpses, Leprosy, Lucifer" through the Old St. John's Cemetery - past the graves of famous and infamous Leipzig residents - or you can venture out on a Creepy Tour with a thrill factor through the city center. On the trail of Leipzig as a city of music
Leipzig is world-famous for its music tradition. If you have time for a short tour of the city and are interested in music history, you can take a walk along the Leipzig Music Trail.
Over 5.3 km in the city center, you can experience original sites of Leipzig's music history. Composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Richard Wagner worked here and left their musical traces. You can easily discover the musical highlights on foot and listen to sound samples at the various stations. Simply download the free map and flyer as well as the Notenspur app (for iOS and Android) beforehand.
Places of rest: guided tours of Leipzig's cemeteries
You can also enjoy the sombre atmosphere of Leipzig's cemeteries during the WGT. The Alte Johannisfriedhof is located on Täubchenweg in the eastern part of the city center. The cemetery with its impressive park character is home to around 400 tombs from the Baroque, Classicist and Historicist periods.
The Südfriedhof is one of the largest cemeteries in Germany with its 78 hectares and one of the most important cemeteries in Europe in terms of art history with its historical tombs.
During the Wave-Gotik-Treffen, you can explore the Südfriedhof and Alter Johannisfriedhof as part of special cemetery tours. More detailed information on this in the WGT program!

Moritzbastei
Located right next to the Gewandhaus and Leipzig University is Leipzig's best-known cultural center, the MB. Here you can party in the historic ambience in meter-high stone vaults. There are several clubs and bars inside. Be sure to stop by, because during the WGT there are parties every evening with international scene DJs.
Täubchenthal
In the heart of the trendy district of Plagwitz in the west of Leipzig, you will find this cool location in an old brick factory building with a concert stage and chilled-out outdoor area. Concerts, parties and other cultural events regularly take place here in a pleasant atmosphere. Incidentally, the Täubchenthal is also a regular WGT venue!
Flowerpower
This small alternative pub in the Südvorstadt district knows how to impress with its charm. Between rock music and oldies, you can party with the mixed crowd until the early hours of the morning.

Large, quaint and quirky Irish pub with club and beer garden in Südvorstadt (near the Agra site). Good for cosy drinks & food stops, but also for parties in the separate club room - with its own "Gothic Ballroom" program during the WGT!

Culture factory, club and concert location with artist studios and workshops at Connewitzer Kreuz in the south of Leipzig. During WGT, the "Gothic Pogo" festival takes place here at the same time.

What is the quickest way to get from A to B in Leipzig?
During WGT, you can use public transport in the city free of charge (the WGT festival wristband serves as a ticket). The easiest way to get to the venues is by streetcar. Just follow the little black groups!
Network map and app
With the network map of Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe you are well prepared for your WGT stay. You can also pick up a network map on site at the Leipzig Customer Centers on Peters-/Markgrafenstraße and at the main train station. The free LeipzigMOVE app is also practical.

Leipzig is compact and well-connected. However, as the WGT venues are spread all over the city, it's best to always plan enough time to get from A to B!
Leipzig by bike
Do it like the locals: Leipzigers prefer to get around their city on two wheels . If your WGT outfit allows it, use the rental bikes from Nextbike. You can hire and return city bikes cheaply at many stations in the city using the Nextbike app.
Leipzig Card
If you are already in the city before the WGT or would like to extend your stay to explore Leipzig better, the Leipzig Card is of interest to you: Whether for one day or three days, individually or in a group, you have free travel on all bus, streetcar and S-Bahn lines in the entire city area (fare zone 110 MDV). The Leipzig Card also gives you up to 50% discount at museums, leisure facilities, cultural events, restaurants, cafés, magazines, city tours and much more.

Leipzig Regio Card
The Leipzig Regio Card offers you great discounts on numerous activities in the Leipzig region. In total, you can save up to 180 euros on admission fees, restaurants and guided tours. With the Classic and Premium versions, you can also use public transport free of charge throughout the entire network of the Central German Transport Association (MDV). The Basic version, on the other hand, is perfect for anyone exploring the Leipzig region by car.
Where to stay? Accommodation in Leipzig
For those who don't want to camp on the official WGT campsite, there are hotels, hostels and apartments to choose from - the latter especially if you are traveling with a group of friends. It is best to compare room prices on hotel booking platforms as early as possible and google for providers of vacation apartments.
As hotels, guesthouses, hostels and apartments in Leipzig are always fully booked very early during the Wave-Gotik-Treffen, it is best to look for accommodation well in advance (preferably 6-12 months in advance!), i.e. well before the festival tickets. If you book with a free cancellation option, you are on the safe side.
In addition, most accommodation providers charge high surcharges for the WGT period and many guests book the same accommodation on site for the following year (so many rooms and apartments are fully booked years in advance).
Strategically good locations for staying during the WGT are the center of Leipzig in particular, but also the Südvorstadt and Connewitz in the south (near the Agra grounds). Especially from the center you can get everywhere and back easily at night and can even reach some locations on foot.

Camping at the WGT
For those who want to be particularly close to the action, there is a camping site specially set up for WGT visitors directly at the Agra festival grounds, which you can use for 50 euros during the WGT. The tickets for this are called "Obsorgekarte". With a camper or camper van you pay 50 euros for a pitch without electricity, one with electricity costs 150 euros. You can buy the tickets here or on site at the ticket counter.
There are also other camping and motorhome sites around the city, far away from the WGT hustle and bustle, such as the Auenhain motorhome site or the Markkleeberger See campsite. The camping site at Kulkwitzer See is ten minutes from the city center and offers plenty of space. Bungalows and vacation apartments also await you.
A centrally located option is the Camping site Leipzig Zentrum und Zoo.
The modern 4-star Camping site with Motel Auensee is located six kilometers outside the city center. The campsite is famous for its well-kept sanitary facilities. There are also caravan pitches at the Auensee campsite.
The Lagovida vacation resort on Lake Störmthal with its "Wohnmobilhafen" offers 45 paved pitches for campervans, motorhomes and caravans.
