From September 17 to 21, 2025, Leipzig will host the "Auf den Punkt gebracht" (To the Point) event series. The Franco-German Society, the French Honorary Consulate, and the Institut français jointly invite you to celebrate the invention of Braille—a world-changing innovation by Louis Braille in 1825. Look forward to a diverse program: from readings and concerts to films and panel discussions, as well as "Experience Art with Your Hands," where galleries, museums, and artists will present their works in an accessible way. A festival that opens up art and culture to all the senses!

From September 3, 2025, the new ArkaZien amusement park near Grimma will offer a world of adventure full of nature and imagination: built from wood, natural stone, and recycled materials. Around 20 themed areas await you to explore – from a secret mine to a willow labyrinth and other imaginative play areas. In addition to sustainable construction, the park also focuses on regional, vegetarian cuisine, the avoidance of single-use plastic, energy-saving technology, and insect-friendly greenery. The park is designed to live and grow with nature.

From September 5th to 7th, 2025, the Pittlerwerke factory in Leipzig will be transformed into a paradise for all coffee lovers. At the Leipzig Coffee Festival, regional roasters, creative minds, and baristas are waiting to show you the full diversity of the bean. Sample exciting varieties, engage in conversation with experts, and learn more about sustainable cultivation and coffee culture. In addition to tastings, there will be inspiring talks and plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in Leipzig's vibrant coffee scene. The festival combines enjoyment with culture and community – perfect for anyone who loves coffee or is looking for something new. Join us as Leipzig celebrates its passion for coffee.

On August 29, 2025, it's time again: hop on your bike and into the sea of lights! Together with the Ökolöwen (Eco Lions), you'll start in Clara Zetkin Park and cycle approximately ten kilometers across Leipzig – on car-free streets and right through the city center. The bike night is not only a leisurely bike parade for thousands of Leipzig residents, but also the celebratory kickoff of CITY CYCLING 2025. This sends a strong message for climate protection, safe paths, and a bike-friendly city – and it's a lot of fun.

From August 15th to 17th, Leipzig's water world will become a summer hotspot: The 25th Leipzig Water Festival features dragon boat competitions, the colorful Leipzig Duck Rally, raft building, live music, a harbor flea market, and many hands-on activities – spread along the Karl Heine Canal, Lindenau Harbor, and the Plagwitz district park. Organized by Wasser-Stadt-Leipzig e. V. (Leipzig Water City Association), the festival showcases the vibrant and diverse nature of Leipzig's waterways. A boat shuttle and electric carriage will take you quickly between the locations.

What do bicycles and music have in common? At the Fête du Vélo on June 21, 2025, there's a whole lot! Inspired by the Fête de la Musique, this colorful festival brings together people who enjoy sustainable mobility, creative activities, and a good atmosphere. Kicking off with a concert in the Botanical Garden, a six-hour tour of approximately 6 km across Leipzig awaits, featuring plenty of music and numerous activities. Participation is free, so hop on your bike and join in!

What does a sustainable lifestyle actually look like – and what does organic have to do with it? Answers will be available from June 14th to 26th right on Burgplatz! The Organic Mobile will stop there and invite you to discover organic with all your senses: hands-on activities, informational materials, cooking shows, VR stations, children's activities, and much more await you. Together with regional partners, the "Regional Without Borders – Organic in Europe" project is bringing a wealth of knowledge and fun to the city. At the Germany-wide BioBlitz 2025, over 40 botanical gardens invite you to experience biodiversity firsthand – and Leipzig is one of them! From June 14 to 22, you can photograph and identify animals, plants, and fungi at the University of Leipzig's Botanical Garden using the iNaturalist app. Every observation will be incorporated into a collaborative citizen science project – for more knowledge about biodiversity right on our doorstep. Simply join in, rediscover nature, and become part of a large network!

The "maijuni clean beauty" pop-up store recently opened in Leipzig's Petersbogen. For six months, visitors can experience, test, and purchase high-quality natural cosmetics based on the rare Bulgarian Damascus rose. The maijuni brand stands for sustainable natural cosmetics that combine traditional Balkan botanical science with modern dermatological findings. The precious rose petals are hand-picked at dawn and fully controlled in the company's own production facility from cultivation to distillation – ecologically, transparently, and resource-efficiently. The pop-up store offers a holistic shopping experience with product testing, opportunities for exchange, and events such as yoga and postnatal classes. Founder Diana Deltschew, herself a native of Leipzig, aims to combine nature, sustainability, and well-being.

The new travel guide "Favorite places in and around Leipzig - sustainable" by Marisa Becker was published in early 2025 and introduces you to over 70 sustainable destinations in Leipzig and the region. The guide includes numerous places that are characterized by resource-saving concepts, regional products and environmentally friendly offers. In addition to sustainable shopping opportunities, restaurants, leisure activities and family-friendly destinations are also presented. The book offers an inspiring guide for everyone who wants to explore Leipzig and the region consciously and sustainably. The travel guide is available both as a paperback and as an e-book!
