Grab your little explorers and discover the "wild side" of Leipzig. The Zoo Leipzig will whisk you and your loved ones away to a unique world of animals and plants. And all this in the middle of Leipzig city center. What do you need to bring? Time! Because the Leipzig Zoo is considered one of the most beautiful and species-rich zoos in Europe. You are sure to discover one or two animal favorites there. Explore the treetop paths in Europe's largest tropical hall "Gondwanaland". Or get to know the gentle giants in the 30,000 square meter Pongoland - the largest ape enclosure in the world .

But there are also animal discoveries to be made outside Leipzig's city centre. The Leipzig Wildlife Park in the Connewitz district invites you to take a walk through Leipzig's alluvial forest in all weathers. Impressive deer are waiting to be fed in the park. Even wild boars grunt in the mud. In addition, raccoons play happily in the treetops. A large playground, the wildlife park restaurant and the Russian log cabin round off the family visit.

The Eilenburg Animal Park, the Tierpark Geithain, the Streichelzoo Arche in Torgau, the Tiergarten Delitzsch and the Tiergehege Dornreichenbach, which are just a stone's throw away from Leipzig, invite you to a leisurely animal park discovery tour.

The GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts has plenty of offers for children and is adapting its ancient offerings to the digital age: With a multimedia guide, you can discover the museum together with your little ones in a playful way. The guide can be borrowed free of charge from the museum, but can also be downloaded via app to your own cell phone. You can either puzzle your way through the permanent exhibitions yourself via various interactive tours or let an "experienced" audio guide do the work for you ;) With both options, you can then decide which part of the permanent exhibition you want to go through: Ancient to Historicism, Asian Art or Art Nouveau to Contemporary. And the best part? As the entire multimedia guide can be downloaded via app, parents and curious visitors can take a look at the tours in advance and see which ones are suitable for their own children. Really great!

If you want to learn something about Leipzig's history, you should pay a flying visit to the Museum of City History  Naturkundemuseum Leipzig fans of flora and fauna will get their money's worth.

In Museum für Druckkunst your kids can get active themselves and even take home a great souvenir at the end of the day! During the workshop "Setting and Printing" you will gain an exciting insight into the museum and the history of the art of printing during a 1-hour guided tour. The subsequent workshop gives young visitors 30 to 60 minutes to set their own name  (or even their own small text). Afterwards, they can print it themselves on a printing press Tip: Also suitable for children's birthday parties!

Join in and learn a lot at the same time - that's what the INSPIRATA hands-on museum and the UNIKATUM children's museum with a capital letter. The motto here is: touch and understand! The hands-on exhibitions invite you to interactively grasp and experiment.

In the Schumann House, your little ones (and you too, of course) can follow in the musical footsteps of Clara and Robert Schumann. In addition to sound installations and colorful color projections, the Sound Room awaits you, where nature, play and music can be explored in a playful way. What does a coffee grinder actually sound like? Does a light bulb make a melody? And can porcelain be recognized by its own "sound"? You'll only find out if you visit with your kids ;)

Little water rats don't let bad weather put them off their favorite element. And they don't have to. In Leipzig and the surrounding region, there are countless opportunities for you and your loved ones to relax in the water. The Sachsen-Therme in the east of Leipzig offers over 18,000 square meters of action for the little ones: Wave pool, water slides, water whirlpools. Fortunately, there is also relaxation for the grown-ups: large sauna area, whirlpools, relaxation area. If you make your way to the southern region of Leipzig, you can dive into the Kur-und Freizeitbad Riff in Bad Lausick. It has been specially certified as a family-friendly establishment. The bathing paradise has all the amenities that a day of swimming with children should bring.

The warm season is perfect for discovering the Leipzig Neuseenland. Leipzig is located in the middle of one of the largest man-made lake areas in Europe. Sounds like a lot of water? That's right! It also sounds like lots of bathing fun for young and old water rats. The "Cossi", "Kulki", Markkleeberger, Zwenkauer, Schladitzer and Störmthaler See await you and your little swimming fans in the immediate vicinity of Leipzig. And it's not just the water quality there that is excellent (Lake Kulkwitz has already won several awards for this). Water sports fans will also get their money's worth here. Our tips: Water-Fun-Park (on Lake Schladitz), Wakeboard facility (on Lake Kulkwitz) and various options for stand-up paddling (now on all the lakes mentioned).

If your little ones are also fairytale fans you should pay a visit to the great theaters in Leipzig. The Puppet Theater Sterntaler in the center of Leipzig can look back on more than 20 years of history. The lovingly staged plays with marionettes and puppets captivate young audiences from the age of four. Here you can experience a magic all of your own. For older children, it's worth making the trip to the west of Leipzig. The Theater der Jungen Welt offers a colourful stage program for young and old. Classics are retold, fairy tales are told in a captivating way.

And if your little ones not only want to see theater, but also learn the art of acting themselves, then the children's and youth theatre program of the socio-cultural center "Die VILLA" is highly recommended.
